Strong wind blows tumbleweed on unpaved streets of undisclosed desert settlement, dust and sand is in the air. Rusty shop sign of a small gas station dances and creaks in the hinges of its post. In the small bar, which serves as the only social establishment of this settlement, few habitues observe flickering unidentified object unsuccessfully trying to land on empty parking lot. Few of the habitues raise their beer bottles and cheer at the landing attempt, some of them are visibly excited about the prospect of new visitors coming to town. It's a small aircraft, but we could only argue to which company or clan it belongs to as it’s signs are hardly visible through the light show and flying sand. Bar crew is magnetized by this rare event, but after a few moments it's quite clear that it won’t land. Finally the aircraft takes off again, flickers on the horizon and vanishes. Bar crew murmurs some “eeee”, “hmmmm” or “daaangs” and gets back to their beers. Man in the dirty dark blue overall hypnotizes the last pickled egg in the jar. White round saur treat is swimming in cloudy infusion. Man takes off his sun washed cap. It has visible white sweat marks, engine oil stains and says Richie Record. He places the cap on the bar, licks his dry lips, sucks in the edges of his overgrown moustache and turns towards the bartender. “Darling, gimme that last egg please!” Huge frog in old brown ups jacket takes kitchen tongs, fishes out the last egg in the jar, puts it on the plate and places it on the bar. “Want another beer with that egg, darling?”
Albums named “How To Moonwalk” and “If I Am Misery Then Give Me Affection” (both released on Petty Bunco) are two strong manifests of Emily Robb’s unique guitar style. It can be described as a time-bending take on desert (or psychedelic blues) rock with heavy use of repetition and guitar loops. Robb has previously played in bands like Lantern, Omon Ra II or Astute Palate. In her solo efforts she makes her guitar go wild and free. No drums, no bass, no vocals. Just pure guitar bliss, it's a love letter from the one who loves to play it to the ones who love to hear it. Emily Robb is based in Philadelphia, a city known for its new radical approaches to loud rock guitar and shredding in general (think of Mike Polizze, John and Michael Gibbons, Bob Malloy, Paul Sukeena or Jason Killinger).
This 7” ep is limited to 200 copies, it’s hand stamped and includes artwork by Štěpán Adámek.
