Ginger Wizard - The Feast For The Dead King & Other Musical Themes (2022, audio cassette / short story, self-released)
After closer examination of this audio cassette front cover, Ginger Wizard quickly stops being a mystery. Yes, the big pointy nose and long ginger hair belongs to our boy Rado Szajter (listeners may know him as guitar and vocal lead in Pacino). Szajter has enjoyed his time being boxed as “husker du revisionist”, but he also never feared to jam with local kraut heads, in 2000 he delivered beautiful adaptation of Riz Ortolani's Cannibal Holocaust Theme for “Come with me if you want to live…” compilation and has also secretly worked on his side project inspired by fantasy genre. For this he chose a bit different musical approach. His debut mini album (8 tracks long) is fine and colorful pastiche of many psychedelic elements. At times, he pays tribute to Bo Hansson, sometimes you can hear rather modern washington state influences coming from likes of Sun City Girls or Grails. Green minds will enjoy Gingers Wizard clear homage to french legends France. In track “Panzerkräuter” he lets hurdy gurdy and organ roll forever above repetitive drum beat. In the last track, “The Treshold” he enters Lungfish zones. I do approve. Vicious tongues could say that this mini album is not a whole lot original, but it's definitely an exciting memo and promise of future things to come. And I was informed that Ginger Wizard's future is rather near … This cassette is self released, comes with nice bilingual short story written by Szajter and i don't think there is much of these left. We have some on our Bigcartel. Link in bio.
