This 7” EP witness Tongue Depressor’s Henry Birdsey and Zach Rowden just fresh off the month long tour through the autumn country of the United States (most of the tour opening for underground metal bands Spectral Voice and Spirit Possession). “Nameless Trade” could easily be a description of their fairly unique musical style in which they create spheric subliminal drones (using tapes, harmonicas, bagpipes, fiddles, bass, you name it) which can be deeply hypnotic (and usually is). It all sounds familiar, but once you hear it on record (or see them perform), it's quite hard to place it anywhere. Rowden and Birdsey are two musicians which are constantly honing their craft, performing, recording, if not together, then solo or in any thinkable collaborative permutation. It can go like this forever or it can burst any moment, but you can do yourself a huge favour if you just go buy any Depressor’s (or Rowden's, Birsey's) record or go see them live while they are still chewing black asphalt like they do these days. It’s really quite inspiring and you won't regret being there.
Nameless Trade was released to honor Tongue Depressor’s Winter 2024 European tour. Its limited lathe cut edition of 68 copies with silkscreened covers. Good half of it it’s available through the band, the rest from Stoned to Death.
Lathe was hand cut by Jakub Mikolajský at Midnight Room Studio, covers silk screened at STD HQ.
